There are 710 legal entities, 779 individual entrepreneurs, 792 natural persons whose incomes are taxable. Among the legal entities 8 are industrial companies, including 1 – in the regional communal ownership and 1 – with the share of regional communal ownership, 20 agricultural companies, including 5 – in the regional communal ownership.

Some 17,833 people are employed in all branches of the region’s economy.

In 2004 the region surpassed the expectations on capital investment by 31.2 per cent (while the forecast provided for 33 per cent). The profitability of sold products accounted for 11 per cent (3.7 per cent in January-August of 2004).

As of October 1, 2005 the jobless rate in the region was 1.8 per cent.
